This Privacy Policy describes how Big City Travel Guide, LLC (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of the Big City Travel Guide mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide Directly

When you use the App, you may provide us with certain information, including:

  • Favorites: Locations, places, activities, or items that you mark as favorites within the App.
  • Calendar Entries: Travel-related dates or events you choose to save in the App’s calendar features.

Information Collected Automatically

We may automatically collect certain types of information when you use the App, including:

  • Apple Account Information: When you make in-app purchases using Apple’s systems, we may receive a unique identifier and purchase confirmation from Apple. We do not receive your full Apple ID email address unless you explicitly share it with us, for example in a support request.
  • Purchase History & Restoration Records: Records of city guides or other in-app content that you have purchased or unlocked. We store purchase and entitlement information to help you restore purchases across devices or after reinstalling the App.
  • Device and Usage Information: Non-identifying information about how you use the App, such as app version, features accessed, and basic diagnostic data, which helps us improve performance and reliability.

Location Information

If you enable location services, the App may retrieve location information from your device to aid in navigation, such as opening directions to destinations listed in the guide in a maps application.

We do not store or retain your location information on our servers. Location data is used only transiently on your device for navigation-related functionality. You can control or disable location sharing at any time through your device’s privacy settings.

Children’s Information

The App is available to users under the age of 13; however, we do not knowingly collect personal contact information from children under 13 beyond what is reasonably necessary to provide core functionality, such as favorites and calendar entries. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, you may contact us to request deletion.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for purposes including:

  • Providing, maintaining, and improving the App and its features;
  • Allowing you to access and restore your purchased guides and in-app content;
  • Syncing your favorites and calendar entries across devices, where applicable;
  • Supporting navigation to destinations listed in the guide (without storing your location data);
  • Processing and validating in-app purchases via Apple’s systems;
  • Preventing fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
  • Responding to your questions, support requests, or feedback.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. How We Store and Protect Your Information

We store certain data on secure servers hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2 and S3. The data stored may include:

  • Purchase history and entitlement (restoration) records;
  • Favorites and saved places;
  • Calendar preferences and entries related to your use of the App.

We do not store location data retrieved from your device.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, such as:

  • Encrypted communication using HTTPS;
  • Restricted access controls and authentication;
  • Secure management of keys and credentials;
  • Regular monitoring for unusual activity or potential threats.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on several third-party services to help us operate and improve the App. These services may process data on our behalf, subject to their own privacy policies:

  • Apple (In-App Purchases): Used for payment processing, subscription management, and purchase validation. Your payment information is handled directly by Apple and is not stored on our servers.
  • Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3): Used to host back-end services and securely store data such as purchase history, entitlement records (for restoration), favorites, and calendar preferences.
  • OpenAI and Google Gemini (GeminiAI): Used to power AI-driven features, such as generating travel content, suggestions, or other in-app text experiences. These services may receive the content you provide when interacting with AI features (for example, questions you ask or text you enter), but we do not send your purchase history, favorites, calendar data, or location data to them unless you include such information in your input.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party providers to understand their practices.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information only in limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With third-party vendors (such as hosting providers and AI platforms) who perform services on our behalf and are bound by contractual obligations to safeguard your information.
  • Legal Requirements: When required to do so by law, subpoena, or similar legal process, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect our rights, users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred to a successor entity, subject to this Privacy Policy or a substantially similar one.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:

  • Maintaining access to purchased guides and in-app content;
  • Providing favorites and calendar synchronization;
  • Complying with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations;
  • Resolving disputes and enforcing agreements.

When information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it, or, if this is not possible (for example, because the data has been stored in backup archives), we will securely store it and isolate it from further processing until deletion is possible.

  • Access: You can request a copy of the personal information that we hold about you.
  • Correction: You can request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Location Settings: You can enable or disable location services at any time in your device settings.

We recognize the importance of protecting children’s privacy. Although the App may be used by individuals under the age of 13, we do not knowingly collect personal contact information from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent. Any data collected from such users is limited to what is necessary for the core functionality of the App, such as favorites or calendar entries.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can delete such information.

9. International Users and Data Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries with different data protection laws than those in your country of residence.

We take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
